My background
I'm Priti — auditor by day, creative by night. I once stepped into the “business” of fashion (yes, that’s a shot from one of my two runways in Sept. 2012), but it was always the art of fashion that drew me in. With time and perspective, I’ve found balance between left and right brain: creativity in audit, logic in style.
Moving from NYC to DC made wardrobe rotation harder. In New York, consignment shops offered vintage wedding gowns for $150, and sample sales gave everyone access to labels once out of reach. DC has great options too, but the styles differ — as Biggie said, “NY and Philly” aren’t “Miami/DC.” I honor that, but still needed a solution.
Searching for answers led me to online second-hand portals. Two things stood out:
- With fashion school skills, plus my local cobbler and alterations experts, I could revive “rehab” pieces, once unattainable, to "like new".
- Online transactions made provenance and condition harder to judge, especially for luxury labels.
This site is my response to sharing those details for those of us NOT lucky enough to live in NYC. The second-hand market is growing (woohoo), and so is creativity as art and stress relief. Whether you’re here for a wallet deal or to enjoy a restoration — know that values are the best gift!
My Experience "auditing" the options
- A "deluge" of options for any desired item. But:
- ensuring reasonableness of price, based on item condition, can be tricky.
- as in any other market, fakes abound here as well.
- Multi-dimensional "seller environment" requires:
- understanding whether you are engaging a "passive" [shop my closet!] or "active" [resale!] seller.
- understanding the "strengths" and "markets" of the various platforms, for buying & selling.
My vision recommendations from "findings"
- Remove some of the "noise", by:
- carefully sourcing and curating authentic and transparent experiences for the "second-hand" consumer - including restorations as needed.
- developing a "trusted and verified" community for "bespoke" consumer requests.
- Provide "community resources" to:
- "educate" the second-hand consumer to the variety of platforms, for both buying & selling.
- "connect" consumers to verified sellers of top-condition items, as suitable.
